Matariki day in Waitangi

On Tuesday the Middle and Junior syndicate went to the  Waitangi treaty grounds to learn about Matariki and do lots of activities . We had a powhiri and we all gathered around and two people were dressed in maori clothing and they spoke in maori then they said it in English. Next Matua Josh spoke for us and then we sung a song.
The first activity we did was story telling and we sat under a huge white tent  and got to get told some things and then we went over to the flax weaving place and made a rose and my one wasn’t really good and it was difficult . Then we went to do some activity with rakau and we made the Kawakawa sign and then  some people mucked it up when we were having lunch.  We had a little play around then we made kites or spares and they were both so cool .  After everything we lined up in our groups and then we went on the bus and went back to school and had a play before the bell rang.

  1. Good story. I like how you told us all about Matariki day and making kites and flowers. How was it, was it cool?
