Matariki day in Waitangi!
Yesterday was a fun and exciting day for me and my class because we got to learn all about the seven stars and how Ranginui and Papatuanuku split up but we mostly learnt all about Matariki, then after all of our storytelling we carried on walking to the next fun activity.
As we carried on walking to the other activity stand we sat down and learnt how to make a really cool flax flower. We also got to have a try making one and it includes lots of folding too.
The end was mostly my favorite thing because we got to make fun flying kites, they were very fun and easy to make because you just go over and under .

Matariki day in Waitangi
On Tuesday the Middle and Junior syndicate went to the Waitangi treaty grounds to learn about Matariki and do lots of activities . We had a powhiri and we all gathered around and two people were dressed in maori clothing and they spoke in maori then they said it in English. Next Matua Josh spoke for us and then we sung a song.
The first activity we did was story telling and we sat under a huge white tent and got to get told some things and then we went over to the flax weaving place and made a rose and my one wasn’t really good and it was difficult . Then we went to do some activity with rakau and we made the Kawakawa sign and then some people mucked it up when we were having lunch. We had a little play around then we made kites or spares and they were both so cool . After everything we lined up in our groups and then we went on the bus and went back to school and had a play before the bell rang.
